Nilem carp Osteochilus hasseltii has long been cultivated by people of Singaparna, but since it takes 8 months to be able to yield the outcome and the price is inexpensive, breeders have looked for other more economical fish. Asep Dudung made a processed product of 3―4 month old fish which is usually called as baby fish. He also made jerked meat from 5―7 month old fish. Apparently, the processed fish is very much liked so that the demand becomes high, thus the price of the fish also becomes high, thus, breeders are back on cultivating it.
